Making an impact… Recycle, Reuse & Reduce

We have Police Departments and Security systems to protect the safety of our homes.
We have military and other armed forces to protect our country and its borders.  How do we protect ourselves from less evident, eminent dangers?  How do we protect the place we all live?  How do we protect and preserve our Earth?

As a people, we have depended greatly upon the natural resources of our planet. From water and natural gases to plants and fossil fuels (petroleum/oil); North America alone is depleting the planet of many of these resources at a rate that is 5x faster than the earth can sustain.  Compounding this problem is the reality that; as we use these resources in our personal lives and in our production plants, we are creating carbon monoxide, methane and other gas by products that increase our “carbon footprint” and  are contributing to “Global Warming.”  Simply put; our planet can not sustain our lifestyle.

The Recycling and Reuse of man-made goods such as Textiles can reduce and eventually reverse the adverse effects that we as a people have had on our planet.  It may be a little-known fact, but the Textile industry is currently considered the most ecologically harmful industry in the world.  Chemical treatments alone during the production process cause the evaporation of toxins into our atmosphere, as well as the absorption of waste water into our soil; producing a toxic runoff into our creeks, streams, lakes, rivers and oceans.  Steps are indeed taken to reduce pollutants, but a certain level of pollution can not be avoided.  The utilization of rayon has rapidly depleted our forests.

While it is a necessary evil being that everyone needs clothing and shoes, the textile industry has quite literally contributed to the decimation of our land, air and sea.
